Toy Workshop 2-27-2016

Reminder  - we will be having a toy workshop on Saturday Feb 27th at 9 am at the shop at the Club for Boys.  See you there!

PS:  We are going to need some tools for Saturday's workshop, so if you can be there on Saturday, please bring a tool to help us: 
Router table with roundover bits (Al O.)
Miter saws (LON or Danny or Rick)
Scroll Saws (Rick and Bob)
Sanders - mouse and RIGID edge belt oscillating sander (Kathie and Bob)
Forstner bits - one set is already there.
We will be doing roundovers, drilling windows, cutting windows, cutting toys, boxing up blanks, sanding and some tracing on 2x6s.  Thanks.

Attendees Today (25):  Ron Fisher, Al Oines, Julian Wigen, Rollie Lynde, Bel Felix, Bob and Kathie Buchanan, Grant Coffin, Gary Graves, Rick Weisbeck, Lon Gose, Paul Douglas, Richard Rasmussen, Jerry Hood, Steve Larson, Darwin and Lauree Buus, Lloyd Potter, Ed Pike, Frank DiCesare, Harley Schmadeke, Harley Paulsen, Jerry Norsen, Mark Kline, and Dick Green (GUEST).

Tasks done to prepare for this workshop
1.  Obtain wood for tracing wheeled vehicles and critters from Dakota Craft and from the pole barn. 
2.  Plane wood on two sides to eliminate sanding down stream.
3.  Unload one car load of 2x6s.

Tasks Today:
1.  Trace remaining larger wheeled vehicles (Rabbits, Whales, Turtle Banks) for the toy program on 2x6s.  Trace Love Bugs in between as space is available.
2.  Cut Club for Boys cars into separate blanks and pack into boxes.
3.  Cut traced toys to rough size with miter saw.
4.  Pack rough cut blocks into boxes for distribution to members or storing until can be worked on.
5.  Drill axle holes (7/32") with a drill press.
6.  Drill eyes in critters (1/8" diameter).
7.  Drill windows (3/4" and 5/8" holes) for Love Bugs. 
8.  Cut critters (3/4" Pine) with scrollsaws (using #3 and #5 blades). 
9.  Cut 10"wheeled vehicles for the Club for Boys Pinewood Derby using the Club's 18" band saw.
10.  Sand batman cars using the Oscillating edge belt sander.
11.  Router edges of critters and batman cars.
