Toymaking Workshop - April 16th, 2011

Progress - drilled holes for 50 helicopters, traced out another 35 helicopters, drilled windows in the remainder of the 95 busses, started working on windows for the crayon vans. April 11,2011 General Meeting

Large number of members in attendance. Plans were made for the 3rd Annual Woodworking Show to be held at Knecht's Home Center on May 14th, 2011 from 9 am to 4 pm. Mary Coffin - will be doing the publicity for the show - flyers, tv, radio, and newspaper coverage. Harley is back!

Toy Workshop - March 26th, 2011

Toymakers were greeted by 3" of wet icy snow on Saturday morning, just when we thought spring had sprung, but that didn't stop us from making sawdust.

Grant C, Gary G, Gary K, Lauren L, and Bob B got together to drill out pivot holes in 120 helicopter rotors, drill out 4 passenger windows (3/4 " diameter) in each of 100 busses, and drivers windows (1" diameter) in the same 100 busses. The next task was tracing out about 50 crayon vans. Then we spent some time cleaning and fixing up our shop-vac, so we could clean up all the sawdust! All in all - it was a pretty productive day!

Kids are the reason we make toys. They do grow fast - this is the cradle delivered to CA last summer - the little guy is 8 months old and he's already pushing out the top and bottom of his cradle! Young parents - take time with them while they are little, they won't stay that way long!

General Meeting - March 14, 2011

The March meeting of the RCWA was held at 7 pm at 910 Wood in Rapid City, SD.

There was lots of show and tell and some target practice too. Plans for the spring Woodworking Show were discussed, as well as plans for tours and presentations for the rest of 2011.
