Just a reminder that we are planning a toy workshop for Saturday Jan 25th from 9 am to noon at the Club for Boys Shop. See you there! Bob B
----------------------------------
Fifteen members attended including Lon, Julian, Darwin, Rick, Frank, Ben, Bel, Richard, Ken, Barbara, Larry, Gary G, Grant, Kathie, and Bob. The main activity of the day was using templates to trace patterns onto planed 2x4s, 2x6s, and 1x6s. Items that were traced included tugboat hulls, racers, caterpillars, batmobiles, soccer vans, locomotives, critters, small cars, helicopters, and crayon vans. The lumber was then cut into individual blocks and boxed up for members to take home and work on in their individual shops. The total number of toys traced during today's workshop was 546 toys. Our goal for 2014 is to trace and finish 2000 toys by Christmas. We are also planning to prepare over 200 toys for the Hills Alive Event in July, as well as assist the Club for Boys with their race car builds with an anticipated 400 vehicles.
A secondary effort was started today in preparation for the Club for Boys pinewood race planned for this spring, as 100 race cars of 4 different types were traced. The goal for the year is two races (spring and fall) with over 200 kids building cars and participating in each event.
