Several members of the Rapid City Woodworkers Association provided assistance to the Club for Boys during the week of July 20 thru 24th at the Club for Boys Shop. The race was run on Friday July 24th.
Among those assisting with the intensive race car building effort were Julian Wigen, Al Oines, Kathie Buchanan and Bob Buchanan. During the first two days of building, over 150 cars were started by boys. On Friday, there were over 100 cars that were completed and ready to run. Carrie and Mark from the Club for Boys ran the cars down the two lane track for over 3 hours. According to Carrie, this is the most cars ever completed during any previous racing event, so needless to say, the event was a huge success. Thanks to the numerous helpers who made this possible.
