Toy Workshop at Club for Boys SHOP - 26 August 2017

Saturday August 26th:  9 am to Noon - Toy Workshop at CFB Shop



Attendees (16):   Danny and Mary Green, Bob and Kathie Buchanan, Jerry Hood, Ralph Brethauer, Paul Douglas, Rick Weisbeck, Richard Rasmussen, Mary Jo Anderson, Ken Maron, Harley Schmadeke, Lon Gose, Frank DiCesare, and Darwin and Lauree Buus.

Activities:
   Critters - sand flat sides and router edges with trim routers on tables
   Sanding - toys with Rigid Sander
   Routering - edges of toys with round-over bits
   Sanding - toys by hand after sealed
   Installing wheels on toys - two wheel presses set up
   Installing rotors on new small helicopters
   Inventory of completed toys:  count/label/record/box up

Summer Family Potluck Picnic 8-19-2017

Saturday August 19th, 2017

3 pm to 8 pm Family Potluck Picnic at Bob and Kathie's house.

It was a dandy day for a picnic out in the front yard - over 90 degrees earlier in the day.  The crowd included 26 family and friends of members of the Rapid City Woodworkers Association, who all enjoyed a super potluck meal without rain, wind, or bugs (at least a lot less than normal).  Activities included setup, corn hole/bean bag games, chatting, eating, talking, chatting, cleanup, and a quick shop tour as well.

Attendees (28) included:  Harley Schmadeke and daughter Terri, Rollie and Norma Lynde, Lon and Vicky Gose, Rick Weisbeck, Jerry and Patsy Hood, Wes and Kathy Murphy, Ken and Carol Maron, Larry Deibert, Lauren and Judy Levin, Grant and Mary Coffin, Ralph and Bert Brethauer,  Darwin and Lauree Buus, Danny and Mary Green,  Richard and Margaret Rasmussen, and Bob and Kathie Buchanan.

Community Event at 910 Wood Ave - Aug 19th, 2017

 Saturday August 19th:  10:30 am - 1:30 pm - Giveaway Vans Event at 910 Wood Ave (Our Redeemer Lutheran Church) - Setup at 10:30 am - event starts at 11 am - lunch will be provided by the church.  Bring your chairs.  Rick has supplies and canopy.  Danny has Racetrack.  Call Rick for questions (431-4708).  (Joan Bares is contact point.)

Eight members represented the group today at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rapid City for a community outreach event sponsored by the church.  Thirty-three vans were colored by kids, and wheels installed by RCWA members.  Danny Green chaperoned the race track as the kids tested their racing skills after the build.

SS SIG - Aug 17, 2017

Thursday August 17th:  7 pm Scroll Saw Special Interest Group (SS SIG) at Rick's Shop.

Attendees:  Danny and Mary Green, Rollie Lynde, Bob and Kathie Buchanan, Paul Douglas, Darwin Buus, Rick Weisbeck, Harley Schmadeke, Ken Maron, and Jerry Hood.

Activities:  Scroll Sawn Basket building review - pattern discussions.

Research and Development:  Reviewed several ideas/sketches for new toy designs;
included protype design of a wooden toy INSTAMATIC Camera.
