Many activities/operations were done in member's shops this week in preparation for this workshop today. Activities this week included turning of cup and ball games, sanding of vehicles and hippos, and sanding, sealing, and finishing of over 150 wheeled vehicles. Prior to final operations on cars, helicopters, and airplanes, a quick wet/dry sanding of each item was done. Over 900 wheels were sprayed with a finish during the week by Rick Weisbeck. This is done prior to installation on toys that have already been sprayed with a final lacquer finish.
Today at the morning workshop, several wheel teams installed wheels on the various toys and cars, helicopters, and airplanes. Rotors were installed on helicopters. In addition, windows were cut out on vans using the scroll saw. Wooden balls were drilled to accept strings for the cup and ball games, basketball games, and the paddle games. A new toy being built this year (whales and rabbit pull toys) was drilled for wheels. The oscillating sander was set up outside, and a box of small cars were sanded.
Grant Coffin brought in his cup and ball assemblies, ready for drilling for ball and strings, and final finishing. Lon Gose brought in a box of finish-sanded toys, as well as a box of another new toy (a hand sized hippo) ready for sealing and finishing. We'll install wheels next time.
Toys packaged and ready for inventory today included 94 racers (large and small), 24 PT Cruisers, 77 Oldies (various types), 55 small cars, 66 helicopters, and 32 airplanes. Toys will be placed in inventory by Rick Weisbeck.
Items completed today - 348 toys packed and moved to storage. (10-3-2015)
