We held a Toy Making Workshop at the Club for Boys on May 8, 2021. The temperature at 9 am was 40 degrees and threatening rain. It rained lightly about 11 am. So too damp and chilly for sanding and routering outside.
Attending (19): Rick, Jim and Maggie, Al, Lon, Bob, Kathie, Dennis, John W, Julian, Harley, Tony, Bel, Jim Burk, Gary, Jeff (new member), Paul, Rollie, and Frank
Activities:
- Unload tools.
- Set up tools and work stations.
- Router edges of 3/4" thick critters.
- Cut toys and critters to shape on 2 Scroll Saws
- Drill eyes for critters.
- Drill axle holes and windows in 2" thick toys.
- Hand-sand (final before finish spraying) love bugs, racers, caterpillars, and C-cars.
- Toys for home shops - Several boxes of toys were taken home for work by individual members in home shops: Rick, Rollie, Jeff, Frank, and Tony.
- Rick brought in 1.5" wheels - both standard size and truck wheels - sprayed and ready to install (1250 wheels)
- Bob brought in finish sprayed toys (175) ready for wheels.
- Paul brought in axle pegs - blue (5000) and green (2000) ready to install.
- Install wheels on Love Bugs (45) and Oldies and Small trucks (total 80).
- Install wheels on Mini-Choppers; small rotors yet to be installed.
- Inventory, label, count, and package completed toys: 125 toys
- Tear down workstations; clean up the area.
- Load up tools.
