Today we held our Annual Tool Sale. This was a fundraiser to support the Toy Program.
The day was predicted to be in the low 90's, the hottest day of the year so far, with clear skies in the morning and wind after noon.
Members had been bringing in items for the sale for the last month. Friday afternoon at 3 pm we opened the Wood Shop for members to bring items by. We also had some donated items which we sorted and labeled on Friday afternoon. The sale was held in the parking lot at 910 Wood Ave next to the Wood Shop where we build toys for the Toy Program.
On Saturday morning, members led by Rick moved and set up tables in the wee early hours so that items could be put in place on tables at 7:00 am in preparation for the 7:30 am sale start. We used at least 15 tables plus 4 pieces of 2' x 8' plywood and 8 saw horses. Tony handled the cash box and Cori recorded every transaction, allocated to member ID numbers or to the group (#99).
Kathie and Lauree set up coffee, cookies, banana bread, lemon bars, pumpkin scones, and ice tea in the meeting room in the annex. Grant brought in a cooler filled with ice and water. Kathie made lunch for all - pulled pork sandwiches, chips, grapes, apples, and cheesesticks.
Attendees (18): Joseph Allen, Bob Buchanan, Kathie Buchanan, Al Oines, Nick Spano, Harley Schmadeke, Ed Pike, Lon Gose, Bob A, Cori, Josh, Darwin, Lauree, Grant, Mary, Rick, Tony Verchio and Stu Kellogg.

Traffic started to trickle down about two pm, so we began to clean up. We sorted and organized the remaining items, taking some items to thrift stores, some to Restore and some to recycle. We had all the canopies down, tables moved back, and items allocated by 3 pm. The Tool Sale for 2024 was over. Tony is still counting, but we believe the sale was a success. Thank you to all who helped make this happen!
