Old Storybook Island

FOOD TRUCKS, DJ & ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS

Little Black Hills Battles is a recognition of Monument Health’s Pediatric patients who bravely fight childhood illness and disease every day right here in our community. During this walk you will get to know many of these brave children and their heroic stories. Join us for a celebration following the walk with music, food trucks, bubbles and more!

Donations through Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) are devoted to helping these children. Opportunities for donations will be available at the event.

With temperatures in the mid 70's, several members of the RCWA gathered at Old Story Book Island Park today to support the Little Black Hills Battles at Monument Pediatrics.  This is a  fundraiser to assist young people (and their parents) battling diseases at Monument Pediatrics.

Attendees (10) included Al, Stu, Ed, Grant, Tony, Patsy, Jerry, Dee, Bob and Kathie

Giraffes were designed and tested by Jerry in 2020.  This year, Stu used the pattern with his CNC Machine to make the giraffes using 1" poplar.  Thanks Jerry and Stu!

Dee, Patsy, and Kathie assisted the little folks with the coloring of giraffes or love bugs  or vans.  Tony and Jerry glued and installed wheels.  Ed, Grant, and Stu helped the little folks test out and race their vehicles of choice.  Over 35 giraffes were colored by kids of all ages ranging from a few months to teens.  Twenty love bugs/vans were colored, wheeled and raced.  Many parents and lots of kids were very excited about the wooden toys today!  The addition of Matchbox cars from another booth added another element to the racing!
