The race cars were traced and cut from 2x4's by members of the Rapid City Woodworkers back in 2021. Wheels (2") were donated to the project this year. Dowels for axles (1/4") were provided by the CFB. The RCWA provided the leadership to guide a group of 80 boys thru the steps needed to build and finalize cars for the big races planned for the following week.
Members of the Rapid City Woodworkers Association assisted boys at the Club for Boys this week with car building projects for the Pinewood Derby .
Mark Kline made a guest appearance today 7.14.2022 to share some of his tips for improving downhill racing performance. Several boys implemented these tips in their cars. Mark's Tips included several ways to reduce friction in the rolling parts of the cars.
Monday, Ron, Rick, Jerry, Bob and Kathie came to prepare parts, establish the working process and get things rolling. Tuesday, Rick, Al, Jerry, and Stu, came to support the boys. On Wednesday, Jerry, Patsy, Al, Stu, Rick, and Bob came. Jerry, Stu, Bob and Kathie came to assist on Thursday.
CFB member Dalton (aka the Recruiter) worked with the RCWA guys to hunt down / drum up interested boys to participate in the race car project.

Cars bodies were prepared and sanded in the mornings. Cars were painted in the afternoons.
Wheels were glued on after painting was completed.
