Toy Workshop (TWS2023-12) 7.08.2023

We held our twelveth Toy Workshop (TWS) for 2023 after a rainy week on Saturday July 8, 2023, from 9 am to 12.  This was held at the Wood Shop at 910 Wood Ave in Rapid City.  The shop is in the basement of the annex to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.  This was a regularly scheduled Rapid City Woodworkers Association (RCWA) workshop and held on the second Saturday of the month.

Attendees (20) included Lon, Al, Gary, Ed, Ken, Kathie, Bob, Maggie, Grant, Darwin, Lauree, Russ, Jim,  Nick, John, Keith, Frank, Tony, Dennis, and Jerry.T

Today's Activities:

Activities today included cutting toys to shape using scrollsaws.  Russ drilled axle holes in tractors.  Ed cut out tractors, Darwin and Tony cut out critters.  Nick, John, Frank, and Keith put wheels on numerous toys (   ).  This included golf carts, runabouts, and milk vans.

Kathie, Grant, Jim and Maggie hand sanded a large number of toys, moving them on to the spraying area at Bob's shop.

Lon returned another box of tugboat hulls all cut to shape, routered and sanded.  Russ started installing pegs in tugboat hulls.

Gary Graves dropped off a box of toys that survived ICU plus some new toys. Gary also picked up a few more toys for ICU/rework.

Ken, Al, and Lon worked on toys outside - routering and sanding the edges of toys.  They kept a look out at the dark clouds, but rain held off until after noon.

Rick installed a router into a router table from the tool sale.  He searched for a standard router bit (3/16" round over bit) to install for use at the workshop.  Rick, Bob and Lauree expedited the flow of toys around the production line today.

As a result of all previous activities with cutting and drilling, we still have a good backlog of rough sanding, routering of edges, and finish sanding (with mouse sanders) left to do.   Several boxes of critters are available for cutting to shape.  There are several boxes of toys ready for finish spraying (7).  Several boxes of toys are ready to be sealed (8).
