Toy Workshop (TWS2024-18). 9-28-2024

We held our eighteenth Toy Workshop (TWS) for 2024 on Saturday Sep 28, 2024, from 9:00 to 12:00 am.  This was held at the Wood Shop at 910 Wood Ave in Rapid City.  The shop is in the basement of the annex to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

 Now that it is Fall, we can expect cooler days, but today was expected to reach 94 degrees.  We worked inside today handsanding, scroll sawing toys, installing regular wheels and drilling whale eyes and outside sanding, cutting and routering.   

The attendees at today's workshop (21) included Keith, Al, Rick, Harley, Jerry, Patsy, Bob B, Kathie, Frank, Darwin, Lauree, Dee, Mary Jo, Tony, Lon, Nick, Cleon, Roy, Bob A, Russ and Dennis.

9-24-2024:   Drill holes for crayon whales, before cutting to shape.

9-26-2024:  Poly rub on cradles

9-25 and 9-26-2024:  Cut basketball parts to size, run over the jointer, then cut to final size.

Bases 3" x 10"; Back boards 3" x 4".

Cut today:  More than 50 bases, and more than 50 back boards.

Locate double heart box pattern.  Jerry working this.

WT SIG 9-25-2024 and Shop Tour

 Stu Kellogg hosted today's Woodturning SIG at his house, Sept 25 @ 1:00 PM.  Stu demonstrated how to cut threads in a turning.  Address:  1116 West Blvd, Rapid City.  If you have any questions on today's presentation, call Stu.

Toy Workshop (TWS2024-17) 9.21.2024

 We held our seventeenth Toy Workshop (TWS) for 2024 on Saturday Sep 21, 2024, from 9:00 to 12:00 am.  This was held at the Wood Shop at 910 Wood Ave in Rapid City.  The shop is in the basement of the annex to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

It was a beautiful day with the temperature starting at 47 expecting 66 degrees.  We worked inside today handsanding, scroll sawing toys, installing regular wheels and drilling rotor holes, and outside sanding, cutting and routering.   

The attendees at today's workshop (22) included Stu, Keith, Al, Rick, Jerry, Patsy, Bob B, Kathie, Frank, Jim Burk, Darwin, Lauree, Dee, Lon, Nick, Larry (guest), Cleon, John, Julian, Russ and Gary G, and Dennis.

Break Table is always a popular place.

Jerry and Darwin worked on the final three or four boxes of toy blanks that remain to be cut to shape.

Al O finished turning the cup and ball games. Strings and balls will be added next.

Lon finished cutting, sanding and drilling another box of Helicopters.  They're ready to be sealed.

Frank finished assembling a group of Small Cradles at home and returned them to the workshop.

A box of toys were spindle sanded by the outside Sanders and the mouse sanders and are ready to be sealed.  Other boxes were routered and sanded by the Outside sanders.
