TWS (TWS2024-21) 10.19.2024

We held our 21st Toy Workshop (TWS) for 2024 on Saturday Oct 19, 2024, from 9:00 to 12:00 am.  This was held at the Wood Shop at 910 Wood Ave in Rapid City.  The shop is in the basement of the annex to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.





Today was a nice cool day with some wind. We were planning for 68 degrees. but it stsrted out at 29 degrees.  There was definitely frost on the pumpkin.  We worked inside today handsanding, building back boards with hoops, and installing regular wheels.   Those working outside were sanding, and routering.
   
The attendees at today's workshop (23) included Rick, Harley, Bob B, Kathie, Don, Keith, Jim Burk,  Frank, Darwin, Lauree, Dee, Mary Jo, Lon, John, Cleon, Ken M, Nick, Grant, Stu, Roy, Russ. Gary G, and Dennis.

Activities today:
  • Inventory Control
  • Handsanding lots of toys (including Tugboats, Puppy dogs with ears, Dachshunds, soccer vans, Locomotives, Taxi, Koala, Off Road Vehicles, Love Bugs)
  • Drilling smokestack holes in locomotives
  • Wheel Installs (included 1969 Volkswagens)
  • Machine Sand toys (80/100/120 grit) - (Ducks, vans, etc.)
  • Spindle sanding of windows
  • Router edges of toys after first sanding
  • Router/Sand blocks for block bags
  • Bringing in Toys completed at home (Basketball game parts)

 Grant and Nick installed screws in backboard/hoop sub assembles.  
Hoops were pre- glued to back boards.


Harley, Keith, Cleon, and John installed wheels.


Stu, Don, Dee, Mary Jo, and Kathie hand sanded basketball game bases, and 8 boxes of sealed toys.



Russ, Roy, Jim Burk, Lon, Ken machine sanded and route red toys and blocks.



Rick did a number of maintenance tasks including replacing router bits and sanding belts.



Crowded out here today!


Frank recovered basketball game posts by soaking the price labels off 25 posts.
