Our November meeting was held upstairs in the annex to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 910 Wood Ave in Rapid City, SD from 7 to 9 pm.
Plans were made for our Toy Packing / Distribution Day on Dec 4, 2021 from 8 am to noon. We will gather around 8 am to sort more than 3500 toys that have been completed for our 2021 Toy Program. Because the toys are already at the WOOD Shop in the basement of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, there will be no pilgrimage to Black Hawk to transport boxes into town.
Boxes will be sorted and placed on tables around the perimeter of the Shop and up and down the center aisles in preparation of the TOY PICKING Exercise. After Toy Pick Lists are filled, the boxes will be moved to packing area in a room down the hall. There, the boxes will be packed and labeled and stationed in appropriate areas, readied for pickup by various responsible members/organizations. Most of our toys will be distributed on Dec 4, 2021, with the remaining toys to be taken to various organizations on the following Monday or Tuesday. We will not be delivering toys to YFS kids in person this year, but will be taking them to the Plaza Drive building for pickup by YFS teachers from their 10 different locations.
Our Christmas Family Potluck was also discussed, with a sign up sheet passed around to give an indication of what foods would be brought to the luncheon. It will be held at the Nemo Community Center on Dec 11, 2021 starting at 11: 30 am. Ham will be provided by Patsy and Jerry Hood, and Smoked Turkey made by Grant and Mary Coffin. The rest of the food will be provided by members in potluck style. Tables will be decorated by anyone who choses to do so. A tree will most likely be available for decorating for all your handmade decorations.
