First Toy Making Workshop at the Club for Boys Shop - Oct. 26, 2013

As we head into the busiest time of the year for the Rapid City Woodworking Association (RCWA) Toymakers, we begin a new venture, as we re-locate our Shop from the basement of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 910 Wood Ave to the Shop of the Club for Boys in Rapid City at 320 N. 4th Street.  We will be holding our monthly Toymaking Workshops in the crafts shop of the Club for Boys.  Weekly sessions are planned for the next 6 weeks, as we work to complete over 2,000 toys to be delivered to organizations serving needy children in the area in the first two weeks of December.

Toymakers held their first toymaking workshop on Saturday Oct 26th, 2013 from 9 am to noon at the Club for Boys Shop.  We  spent the morning installing wheels on pickup trucks, buses, cars, and tanker trucks, installing rotors on helicopters, sanding vehicle bodies,  attaching ball and strings to paddle games, prepping ball and string assemblies for basketball games, filling bags with blocks, and counting and packing up completed toys.

The Club for Boys is located near the Civic Center - at 320 N 4th Street, Rapid City, SD.  Phone number is 605.343.3500.  Our points of contact are Mark Kline and Ken Wright.

Attendees (18) included Richard, Lon, Darwin, Lauree, Julian, Levi, Rollie, Frank, Gary, Rick, Bel, Barb, Larry, Harley, Greg, Ben, Kathie, Bob, and Shop Foreman Ken Wright.

A total of 345 toys were completed, boxed, and added to the off-site inventory store room at the end of the workshop.
