WOOD RECOVERY PROJECT - WALNUT TREE

The time had come to cut the walnut tree donation into usable pieces.  Today, five woodworkers traveled to Spearfish SD to visit local sawmiller Larry Kellogg.  Here are some photos from the happening:

Kenadi Karnival Event - Spearfish SD - June 25, 2016

All - we will be giving toys to kids (FREE) on Saturday at Spearfish SD.

We will bring blank unfinished wooden toy vans for kids to color with crayons. When the kids are finished coloring, we will install wheels on each toy.  The event starts at 10 am and goes thru 3 pm at the Spearfish High School.  Be there by 9:30 am for setup. We will be set up under the Big Top on the Spearfish High School Upper Football Field.

Items needed for this event:  The trifold display, wooden van blanks, wheel presses,  jigs, glue, axle pegs, and crayons.

PS: The overall event is a fundraiser called Kenadi's Karnival.  Proceeds will go towards building an all-inclusive playground destination which will accommodate children of all abilities to live, love, learn, and grow side by side.

Attendees:  Rick Weisbeck, Ed Pike, Jerry Hood, Darwin and Lauree Buus, Bob and Kathie Buchanan

We had a great time at the fundraiser - the accommodations were perfect - everyone really enjoyed themselves and the kids were super -  we also really enjoyed the live music in a very relaxed atmosphere!   We built and gave out over 125 wooden cars, so it was a very good turnout.   Next year's event will be June 24, 2017.  Put this on the calendar!

Feedback from the Event Host - Lori Deibert:

"There were so many positive comments about what you all are doing as a service to the community and we quite simply cannot thank you enough for bringing so many smiles to children's faces at our fundraising event! "

Mark your calendar for next year's event on Saturday, June 24, 2017!
