Sturgis Threshing Bee 8.20.2022

Attending (14):  Rick, and friends (2), Rollie, Norma, Kathie, Bob, Darwin, Lauree, Al, John, Harley, and daughter Terri, and Lon.

The RCWA toymakers set up in the Memorial Building at the Sturgis Threshing Bee on August 20, 2022 at 8:30 am.  The temperature was beautiful in the low 60's at the start of the day.  We enjoyed ice tea and cookies later in the day.  It warmed up to 85 degrees by 4 pm.

We brought tractors and vans for kids to color and then build into racing vehicles by adding wheels.   We brought 120 tractors cut from redwood, pine,  and cedar, pre-drilled for wheels.  Additionally, we brought a box of vans.  Kids were given a choice of tractors or vans.  As it turns out, we gave away 120 tractors, and 45 vans, for a total of 165 toys.  We ran out of tractors a little before 4 pm, so we packed up furnishings and traveled home.

To demonstrate scroll sawing techniques, we cut about 75 miniature tractors (2 5/8") from the Magnum Enterprises donation of walnut stained pine end caps.  These were given to kids who were building the full-size tractors as an extra added surprise.  Overall, this was received well by the young crowd at the Bee.
