Postponed - Tour of BHRR Society Train Clubhouse 5-22-2019

Notice:  Tour has been postponed.  Stand by for re-scheduled event times.

Greetings:  The Black Hills Railway Society has invited us to their facility for a special tour of their model railroad exhibit.  The tour is scheduled to start at 6 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.  The exhibit is in the basement of the SD Stock Growers Association at 426 St. Joseph St., Rapid City.  This is between 4th and 5th streets across from Hardee's.  Meet in front of the building.

Some of the society's members will be present to show off their displays, operate the equipment and answer questions.  The scaling and modeling techniques they use are well worth seeing.  Plus it is fun to watch the trains run through the various scenes of the Black Hills.

BLACK HILLS WALK FOR WISHES®
Our 7th annual, family-friendly event is a fun morning of exercise, kid-friendly activities and camaraderie. Walkers of all ages will come together to celebrate wish children and raise much-needed funds to grant wishes for children awaiting their wish.

Walk For Wishes® is a nationwide Make-A-Wish® fundraiser that celebrates the more than 300,000 wishes that have already been granted, while raising funds for future wishes. It's a family-friendly event powered by wish families, volunteers, companies, donors and friends.  The full distance for the walk is 1.25 miles.

By participating in one of the many walks held throughout the country, you can help bring the life-changing impact of a wish to children in your community who are battling critical illnesses.  A wish experience can truly change a child's life, and you can help.

The RCWA represented Knecht Home Center today at the annual Walk for Wishes event at the Main St. Square in downtown Rapid City, SD,  Attending (12) today event:  Mary and Danny, Ken, Ed, Darwin and Lauree, Frank, Paul, Jerry H, Rick, Bob and Kathie.

We brought blank unfinished wooden toy vans for kids to color with crayons.  When the kids were finished coloring, we installed wheels on each toy.  We brought blanks, wheels, axles, and glue, wheel presses, jigs and crayons.  Danny and Mary Green brought the 3-track racer for the kids to test out their cars after coloring.  This was a fun community event.

It was a reasonable turnout, despite cool and windy weather, and we got good responses from the kids; about 45 xx blank vans were colored by kids.  Thanks to Knechts for hosting the booth and inviting us to this event.
