Wood Recovery 11-19-2017

We got a call from Mark at the tree lot this afternoon saying he had a pallet of some nice clean short 2x4s at the tree lot that he got with the tree delivery and were extras.  Could we use them?  I called Danny who jumped in the big blue truck and headed to town.  It was just like Mark said - a pallet full!  Thanks Mark for thinking of us!  Thanks Danny for picking it up and moving it to the barn!

Scrollsaw Special Interest Group (SIG). 11-16-2017

Tonight's Scroll Saw Special Interest Group was held at Rick's Shop at 7 pm.  This was a working scrollsaw workshop with FIVE scrollsaws all fired up, with members cutting Christmas Ornaments and Christmas Trees in preparation for our December Family Christmas Potluck - planned for Dec 11th.  We will be decorating a tree as part of the event.

 Buffalo on Osage Orange

Trees were made using a RELIEF CUTTING technique - the table was tilted 3 degrees down on the left side.  The patterns was cut starting on the right side, going counterclockwise.  When done, the pieces protrude forward from the piece it was cut from.

Mini Toy Workshop at Rick's Shop 11-4-2017 (TWS2017-20)

Another cool Saturday morning, and an end of the year mini-toy workshop at Rick's shop.  Today, a small group met at Rick's to assemble the Rocking Chairs.

Attendees (5):   Danny and Mary Green, Rick Weisbeck, and Bob and Kathie Buchanan, with a visit from Grant Coffin.

Activities:
Last week, Rick and a small group sanded, milled, and drilled holes in the last few parts needed for the Rocking Chairs.  So today, the rocking chairs were assembled with glue and screws and finished on the edges with Poly Rub.  The rocking chair parts were cut in part on a CNC machine, and in part on Scroll Saws.  The parts were cut from pre-finished 1/2" birch.  Thirty-nine rocking chairs were completed and boxed up for inventory today.

Toys left to finish for the 2017 include approximately 100 toy tractors.

Toys packaged for Inventory today: 39                    Subtotal to date:    2,430

Here's our current inventory of toys, ready for distribution for the 2017 Toy Program.
