Tool Sale - Garage Sale Fundraiser 6.18.2022 (updated)

Friday June 17, 2022

Jim Burk delivered tables borrowed from the Rapid Valley Fire Station before 2 pm on Friday.  Other preliminary activities started at 2 pm on Friday as a few guys met Mary Green and Rick and Ron and his trailer  at Mary Green's RV barn to load several items donated from community people for the tool sale.  Then we caravanned to Wes Murphy's to unload radial arm saws, scroll saws and lots of hand tools.   Rick also unloaded tools from Dave Maude.  At 3 pm, Rollie and Norma arrived with a trailer full of items gleaned from Rollie's 55 year tool collection.  The crew quickly moved oodles of items from Rollie's trailer to Wes's garage.  Then Bob backed his truck into the driveway to unload his sale treasures into the garage for the big sale on Saturday.

Jim Burk and Wes Murphy set up 14 tables in Wes Murphy's driveway early on Saturday morning June 18, 2022.  This set the stage for other members to assist by bringing out tons of items for lots of garage salers eager to take advantage of woodworking tool deals in the early morning hours.  Rick posted signs around the neighborhood at 7:30 pm and the fun began.

Members (22) supporting today's fundraiser included Jim, Wes, Kathy, Rick, Ron, Stu, Tony, Rollie, Norma, Grant, Bob, Kathie, Russ, Ken, Al, Lon, Lauree, Darwin, Harold, Cori, Janet, and Rob.

A perfect day for a garage sale:  It was a hot day starting at 75 degrees at 6:30 am and rising to 97 degrees by 3 pm, with no trace of rain until 4 pm as we were all wrapped up and driving home.

Kathie and Wes once again treated us all to a fantastic lunch with sandwiches, fruit and rhubarb cake dessert!  Thank you so much!

Many thanks also goes to our Publicity chairperson Mary Coffin for tirelessly getting the word out to garage sale goers all around the Black Hills.  Because of Mary's efforts, we were able to move lots of merchandise down the driveway today!

The sale of a Radial Arm Saw has become a tradition at our Tool Sale, and we did sell another one today!

At the conclusion of the sale about 3 pm, tables were loaded into Rick's truck for returning to the Rapid Valley Fire Station.  Items not sold were loaded into Bob's truck for sorting and dispositioning to various locations in Rapid City, including the Restore - Black Hills Habitat for Humanity, and the Cornerstone Thrift Store.
