Setup for the Woodworking Show

Members met at the Knecht Home Center from 4 pm to 6 pm on Friday April 26, 2019 to set the stage for the 11th Annual Rapid City Woodworkers Association (RCWA) Woodworking Show.

Rick Weisbeck was the coordinator/liaison with Knecht Home Center for the setup and subsequent Show.

A core group of Members planning to attend and participate assisted with the setup activities for the Show.  Here are some of the  participating members:

RCWA TRAVELING DISPLAY CASE - the case had been moved to the store early in April to help advertise the upcoming WW Show.



FRONT ENTRY TABLE - the tables near the entrance to the store included areas for the DOOR PRIZES, SIGN-IN, RAFFLE ITEMS, and SILENT AUCTION.

TOY PROGRAM DISPLAY - tables were prepared with table cloths and made ready to set up areas for:

CLUB DISPLAY – TRUCKS - near the middle of the store, three tables were placed to hold representative displays from each member.



OLD TOOLS DISPLAY - LON GOSE brought in three panels of old tools attached to boards for display during the show.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS’ DISPLAYS - tables were set up along aisles and walkways in the store to hold members individual displays.  Those planned to bring items for displaying on tables included:

DEMONSTRATIONS - areas/tables were set up to accomodate scrollsaws, lathes, CNC machines, toymaking apparatus, and a Target for the Gatling Gun

WOODTURNING - the woodturning demonstration area was between the two entry dooors.
WOODTURNING LATHE - set on a Grant Coffin built custom table.
DOUBLE POLE SPRING LATHE – set up by JEFF ALBRECHT - as a standalone unit.


SCROLLSAWING - tables were set up to accomodate 5 scrollsaws, a drill press, a laptop computer and printer, a bandsaw, and portable hand sanders.


TOYMAKING - 3 tables were set up to accommodate kids coloring delivery trucks, and presses to install wheels on the trucks.

COMPUTER NUMERICALLY CONTROLLED (CNC) ROUTER DEMONSTRATION - RICK WEISBECK placed his CNC router on a movable cart and  cleared an area in the shipping/receiving area for the demonstration.

GATLING GUN TARGET PRACTICE - was also set up in the shipping/receiving area.

GAMES FOR KIDS
An area was prepared for a short legged table for games for kids, including a double marble game, a double basketball game, a tabletop race track, wooden puzzles, a Giant Jenga game, a medium Jenga game, and a full blown 8' 3-track race track.
