Toy Workshop (TWS2022-08) 5.28.2022

We held our 8th Toy Workshop (TWS) for 2022 on Saturday May 28, 2022, from 9 to noon.  This was held at the Wood Shop at 910 Wood Ave in Rapid City.  The shop is in the basement of the annex to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

The attendees at today's workshop (19) included Grant, Al, Ken, Rick, Harley, Russ Stueckrath, Bob, Kathie, Jerry, Patsy, Gary Graves, Bel, Lauree, Darwin, Jim Burk, Stu, Lyle, Bob and Kathie.

Gary Graves brought in repaired toys which have now recovered from ICU.

Today we continued drilling axle holes, drilling windows using Forstner bits, cutting toys to rough shape, sanding and routering.  There were three people cutting on scrollsaws, and one on the bandsaw.  There was handsanding of 7 boxes of toys that had been sealed with shellac, as well as handsanding of blocks for block bags.  Seven block bags were filled with 20 blocks each - 10 large and 10 small.  There was power sanding and round over routering under the canopy outside in 78 degree weather.

Bob opened a box received this week from Lowes.com containing the new Triton sander purchased by the RCWA last week.  The box was received with no apparent shipping damage.  Rick added the attachments and set it up ready for use.  Grant tested it for the rest of the workshop.

Several members took home traced toys to work on at home.  This included Stu Kellogg, Keith Brinks, and Ken.  Rick took home two boxes of blocks to sand and router.

At the end of the day, there were 7 boxes of toys ready to be spray finished.
