The Rapid City Woodworkers received a wood donation today from Magnum Enterprises in Rapid City. The donation was 3 pallets of cutoffs from the poplar stock used in manufacturing rubber band guns made by Magnum Enterprises.
Rick Weisbeck went to Forest Products this morning to meet the plant manager Quent Danley to pick up the wood donation. Forest Products mills the poplar to sizes needed by Magnum Enterprises. All the scrap poplar had been in storage for several months until we were able to retrieve it.
It took two trips to get three pallets to our wood storage location. Several members were on hand to unload and pack in boxes or stack the wood on shelves. Members included Mary G, Lauree B, Rick W, Jim Brown, Jerry, Al Oines, Kathie and Bob B.
All available shelves are now filled, so now it's time to make toys from 1" poplar!
