9-15-2019:  112 tractors were packaged and added to the inventory.
    Toys completed, packed and sent to inventory:  112
    Total Toys in inventory to date:  885 + 112 =  997

9-19-2019:
    Cradles were sprayed, fitted with quilts, and baby dolls put in place:  15
    Toys completed, packed and sent to inventory:  15 
    Total Toys in inventory to date:  997 + 15 = 1, 012

9-20-2019  Turtle Banks were fitted with plexiglass and sent to inventory:  53
   Toys completed, packed and sent to inventory:  53
   Total Toys in inventory to date:  1,012 + 53 = 1,065

Toy Workshop 9-14-2019 (TWS 2019-14)

Activities today:
    Hand-sanding sealed toys
    Hand-sanding tugboat stacks
    Hand-sanding tugboat cabins
    Marking and drilling pilot holes in airplane wings
    Installing wheels on wheeled toys
    Cutting toys to shape on scrollsaws
    Sanding and routering first time of toys
    Sanding curved parts with 1" belt sander
    Sanding inside of round windows or holes with oscillating sander
    Begin assembling tugboats with axle pegs, cabins, and stacks
    Counting and packaging completed toys and tagging for inventory/storage

Results today:

    Toys completed, packed and sent to inventory:  133

    Total Toys in inventory to date:  752 + 133= 885

Toy Workshop 9-7-2019 (TWS 2019-13)

Toy Workshop:  Sept 7th, 2019 from 9 to noon at CFB

Temperature at game time:     75 degrees F, sunny, windy

Activities today:

     Hand Sanding Tractors edges before sealing:  Kathie, Mary Jo
     Hand Sanding Toys after sealing:  Kathie, Mary Jo, Gloria, and Al

     Installing wheels/pegs on toys and Rotors on Helicopters:
               Lon, Harley, Ralph, Bel, Mary, Lauree
     Installing ears on Dachshunds:  Julian

     Maintenance on glue bottles and Injectors:  Harley

     Sanding (1st and 2nd time) with Rigid sander/1" belt sander/Routering:
             Jim, Ken, Paul, Ethan
     Logistics:  Grant, Matt, Jerry H, Bob, Danny
     Routering critters:  Rollie

     Scroll-sawing toys to shape:  Ed, Rick, Darwin
      Danny and Mary cut rough block stock into large and small blocks for Paul in June.  Paul finished sanding and routering about 300 blocks in late August at his home shop.   Kathie completed sewing of 30 + heavy duty cloth bags for the blocks.  Members packed the block bags with ten large blocks and ten small blocks each.  29 bags were filled and tagged for inventory.

Results today:

    Toys completed, packed and sent to inventory:  219

          Rick transported the completed toys to the Store Room.

     Total Toys in inventory to date:  533+219=752

Table Tents Delivered to United Way. 8-27-2019

Members of the RCWA completed 200 table tents for the United Way annual Day of Caring kickoff luncheon that will be held on Sept 5th at the Civic Center at 11:30 am.  Four boxes (200 tents) of the Table Tent kits were delivered to the United Way office on 27 August 2019 by Bob  and Kathie B.  The staff at United Way were excited about the delivery and very appreciative of our efforts.

Annual RCWA Family Potluck Picnic 8-24-2019

A number of members of the Rapid City Woodworkers Association met for a summer potluck picnic at Bob and Kathie's home today from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Attendees (33) included Rick, Cori, Jerry and Patsy, Ken and Carol, Harley, Ralph and Roberta, Kathy and Wes, Frank, Al and Jeri, Grant and Mary, Darwin and Lauree, Richard, Lon and Vicky, Rollie and Norma, Ed, Gloria, Danny and Mary, Jim, Julian and Lois, Paul, and Bob and Kathie.

It was a perfect day for a picnic with temperatures in the high 70s, a few clouds, and lush newly mowed green grass still in late August.  Members visited inside and outside, enjoyed informal shop tours, and played Corn hole games.  Food was delicious and the hand turned home made vanilla ice cream topped off a perfect meal.
