Toy Workshop (TWS2022-17) 10.1.2022

We held our 17th Toy Workshop (TWS) for 2022 on Saturday October 1, 2022, from 9 to noon.  This was held at the Wood Shop at 910 Wood Ave in Rapid City.  The shop is in the basement of the annex to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

The attendees at today's workshop (18) included Harley, Bob, Kathie, Jerry, Patsy, Stu, Rick, Bel, Grant, Mary Jo, Al, Jim Burk, Lon, Nick, Don, Rollie, and Norma, and Dennis.

Today Jerry and Rollie cut toys using scroll saws.  Nick drilled holes in Love Bugs and Tugboat Hulls.

Patsy, Mary Jo, Kathie, Don and Norma hand sanded various 2" and 1" toys that had been sealed with shellac.   Six boxes of toys were handsanded and are now ready for spraying.  Turtle banks (52) were completed at home and returned by Rick ready for hand sanding.  These were hand-sanded today and are now ready for sealing.  Additionally, Patsy returned sanded airplane wings.

Harley, Bel and Rick installed wheels on over 100 toys.

Lon drilled holes for rotor pegs on helicopters, then installed rotors on helicopters with black axles.  Over 135 helicopters are in work.

On an overcast windy day, there was power sanding and round-over routering outside in 65 degree weather.  Many boxes were worked on,  moving them to the next operation.  Jim Burk, Grant, and Stu made up the parking lot crew.

At the end of the day, there were 6 boxes of toys ready to be sprayed with finish, and 1 box of turtle banks (52) needing to be sealed.  There were 108 toys packed, recorded and placed into inventory today.
